Making crayons with kids

April 2, 2020

Jimmy and I have been doing more drawing and coloring sessions lately. We had a bunch of broken crayons and I was excited to finally try re melting broken crayons into a new shape.

It was easy. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Find a baking mold that is heat safe and broken crayons to fill. Have the kids fill the molds. Mixing and matching us also fun but I am saving that for another day. Bake the crayons in the mold for at least 15 minutes or until melted. Carefully remove from oven and allow the crayons to cool and harden into shape. Remove from molds and use the crayons as you normally would.

We started with a heart shaped mold but you can make these into any shape mold you can find. Billy wants to do “cute animals” crayons next time.
